Hi friends! The last day of the week. Let’s get down to it:
War rages on in Ukraine. People are fleeing towards neighboring countries. The Russians are advancing on several fronts closing in on Kyiv. The Ukrainian resistance has been fierce with many Russian military vehicles destroyed.
The Russian captured areas as of today:
The Ukrainian airspace after war broke:
In the meantime there have been many protests across Russia against the war. Hundreds of arrests seem to have been made.
Here’s President Zelensky’s heartbreaking speech:
Here is a touching story of Ukrainian border guards being killed by a Russian warship.
Personally, I am a fan of Elon Musk and I don’t quite get it why he is hated so much. Anyway, as of recently he has been involved in a dispute with the White House initiated by the fact that the President would never mention Tesla publicly and attributing the EV revolution to the Detroit crew, Ford and GM. The reason being that both these companies have trade unions which voted heavily for Biden while Tesla doesn’t. This was amplified by the fact that Elon would comment publicly about the situation on Twitter as well as an ad campaign with billboards in Times Square asking Biden to say Tesla.
Recently though officials from the White House have said that the reason of not inviting Tesla to the events has been a fear that Elon might embarrass the President. You can read more about it here.
I came across this very interesting article on how respiratory viruses evolve to become milder by Matt Ridley. Matt is a favorite author of mine with epic books such as ‘The Evolution of Everything’ or the ‘Rational Optimist’. In this article he makes a point that respiratory diseases do evolve to become milder, while sexually transmitted, waterborne or insect-borne diseases don’t.
And here is something you had no idea that you needed to know. Apparently, a study has concluded that hamsters’ testicles shrink if they get infected with Covid. This is not surprising to scientists because Covid-related impotence is a thing as this other study conducted on humans suggests.
And lastly, cool and interesting pics and memes from around the web:
Just sky and wheat.
Homer dropping some wisdom.
Sergei after the wear-down the other day.
This simulation and its irony.
That was it for this week folks. Wishing you a great weekend, see you again on Monday. Peace.
